Project information
Assignment
For this project, we had to make an interactive, 3D product that connects with goals of an existing advertising campaign that creates awareness for social / public issues.

My part
I was the only engineer during this project. That means that all the programming is done by me. I am especially very proud on the dialogue system that I have created. It took me a while to make, but it works the way it's supposed to. I am also proud on the phone. It has apps that work and it adapts according to the actions of the player and the dialogue.

What did I learn?
- How to make a waypoint system (for the car)
- Making a car 'ride'
- How to create a phone with working apps
- How to create a dialogue system with subtitles
- Creating a traffic light system

Campaign
After discussing several campaigns, we as a group agreed that we wanted to make a game about texting and driving prevention. The campaign can be found here: https://www.adcouncil.org/campaign/texting-and-driving-prevention.

Gameplay
We came up with the idea that the player controls a car and has a conversation with their friend, Lauren. The dialogue triggers objectives that the player has to complete. These objectives need an interaction with a phone. Spoilers ahead! At the end of the game, when the player is on her phone, the players car gets into an accident with another car. An emotional scene of the friend dying is the end of the game.
The purpose of the game is to make the player aware that an accident can happen in just a split second, or how we say it in Dutch; 'Een ongeluk zit in een klein hoekje'.
The game has working traffic lights that have influence on the dialogue between the player and the passenger. For example, if the player drives through a red light, the passenger says "Are you trying to get us killed or something? That was red!". There are various lines that can be triggered by a red of yellow light.
When the player doesn't move / drives forward, a honking and shouting sound is played. This stimulates the player to keep driving.

How can I play it?
The game can be downloaded from Itch.io for both Windows and macOS.
